Create your own “Mealtime Magic” with combination feeding….
One of the most important choices we make for our dogs is what food they eat. Therefore, deciding on a dry or wet diet, or a combination of both is an important decision to get right. Some Dachshunds prefer a crunchy kibble and some love a soft pate, but in our experience most prefer some Mealtime Magic with a mix of the two!
Benefits of Combination Feeding
Feeding a mix of wet and dry adds a variety of tastes and textures to their meals. This makes it a perfect choice for fussy eaters and makes their mealtimes more varied and exciting.
Both wet and dry have their own unique benefits, which when combined, allows you to get the best of both. Wet food has a higher moisture content that dry food, which can be beneficial when aiming to increase their water intake: it can also be useful for dogs and puppies who would benefit from a softer ‘bite’. Dry food has a lower moisture content making it more crunchy which can help with natural abrasion of the teeth, helping to support their dental health.
Some Dachshunds prefer more wet food than dry, or vice versa, while others like a balance of both, so choose the combination that works best for them and create your own “Mealtime Magic”.
DRY & WET COMBINATION FEEDING GUIDELINES
- If you want to feed 50% Superfood Kibble , 50% wet, use the feeding guidelines for each and provide half as much daily. The feeding guides are on the individual packages.
- If you want to feed 75% Superfood Kibble, 25% wet, use the feeding guidelines for each and calculate how much 75% would be for providing dry and 25% of the feeding guidelines for our wet food trays.
- Adjust these amounts over time to achieve ideal body weight. Body condition and weights will fluctuate with activity levels, climate and age. In addition we recommend weighing your dogs food for better accuracy.
